Vinted Users Share Displeasure About Sizing Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has updated its size classifications for women's and children's clothes but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Social Media Reaction
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and manually change the size where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Updates
Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options after backlash from users.
