Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a former number one, has had a challenging year, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in especial - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his initial title since the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt since that period of the previous year.

Victory also means the Russian has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one distinct events.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is really nice," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my child her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, comprising in that event previously this season.

The player's counter-punching approach and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had led commentators to wonder if his skill to play at the highest level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, striving to advance forward and perform positively, backed up by an better serving game.

He fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players swapped service breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional championship, took control to push for a third set.

Moutet defended four initial opportunities in a tight final set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner earned the title with a point at the net, with Moutet incapable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
